WordPress Blogs
WordPress has been around for more then 5 years now and is an open-source publishing platform that brings your information to the web. WordPress is free and customizable.
Why WordPress
I’ve been using blogs for almost 5 years, starting with blogger-blogspot and switching over to Wordpress about 3 or 4 years ago. I work in the travel industry, where vast amounts of information changes weekly, using a blogging platform makes it easy and fast to make updates and changes. Wordpress also gives you many web services and custom solutions not found with other blogging services.
- Search-able - Searches can be made from any page for any topic in the site.
- Expandable - Web pages can be added and-or changed by authorized individuals.
- All pages are integrated - when a page is added all the pages will reflect that addition, saving lots of coding time.
- The design is set up for widgets & plugins - some I use now to work with search engines, and many are used for enhancing the viewer experience. ie the video on the front page.
- Themes are not templates, Wordpress themes are customizable, colors and design can change quickly.
- Data is kept in a database - Backups are easy and when a new theme is implemented the data can be seamlessly installed (in most cases).
- # The database is mySQL and Wordpress a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.
